I also really like the dedicated whirlpool and loungers just outside the spa; post-treatment, this area is a must hangout to continue the chill vibe. Lauderdale to Guayaquil, Ecuador was long – 16 days – providing the opportunity to dip a toe in many countries. Becoming the first ultra-luxury cruise ship to set sail following the pandemic, Silver Moon embarked upon her inaugural season from Athens from June 18, undertaking a series of 10-day voyages in the Greek Isles. Cabins are located on all of Silver Moon’s public decks, in the center and forward sections of the ship (on all decks the aft third is dedicated to dining and other services). Veranda Suites make up more than 80 percent of the ship’s compliment of accommodations. Measuring 323 square feet (plus balcony), they are among the most generously sized “standard” cabins at sea.
What a thrill to ride a riverboat along the Belize River, spotting spider monkeys and other wildlife along the way. Pre-dinner, the best place to meet fellow travelers is Dolce Vita lounge, where bartenders expertly mix martinis and a singer and pianist might perform. Post-dinner, most passengers head to the Venetian Lounge for musical revues by the singers and dancers of The Voices of Silversea, guest artists like comedians or musicians or for feature film viewing. Some guests head to the Panorama Lounge either after dinner or after a Venetian Lounge show, for live late-night music.
There are few experiences as singularly luxurious as eating caviar in bed. Or returning to your suite to find your butler has cleaned your sunglasses, untangled your charging chords and drawn a post-massage bath. Immediately next door to the Panorama Lounge is a Silversea standard, the Connoisseur’s Corner, an indoor-outdoor cigar lounge stocked with Davidoff and Cohiba stogies and premium cognacs.
It now has ocean views and can seat more than twice the number of guests. In addition to the Lab, the S.A.L.T. program includes culinary demonstrations held in the Venetian Lounge, and guest lecturers on an array of subjects also do their thing here. Until nightfall, the biggest lure is the large pool and two whirlpools, with surrounding loungers and a pool bar.
The spacious all-suite accommodations on Silver Moon start at 335 square feet– larger than many city apartments. All suites have ocean views and the vast majority (from classic veranda suite and up) come with a private veranda – an ideal place to enjoy breakfast or unlimited champagne and Ars Italica caviar. Public spaces are comfortable and enjoyable, and the pool area offers one of the biggest pools you'll find on a ship of this size. Overall, Silver Moon offers a joyful experience, one in which guests can expect to be delivered to ports, both large and small, in the ultimate comfort. In partnership with the luxury collection of hotels and restaurants, La Dame is Silver Moon’s upscale French fine dining restaurant, offering classic dishes with the occasional contemporary twist curated by Silversea’s top chefs.
Silver Moon’s crew is generally a polite, more formal bunch, except for the more relaxed servers at outdoor dining venues. With a large crew-to-passenger ratio, it’s fairly easy to receive prompt attention. This detail feels particularly important at the Reception and Shore Excursion desks, where so many details of voyaging arise. Guests six months and older are allowed on Silversea cruises, but there are no special programs for children on board, nor are there babysitting services. Not too many kids cruise with Silversea, but mature teens will likely enjoy the experience.
